Hi, my name is Jody Bloomfield and I created Volitama with the sole purpose of helping organizations and the people within them to take charge of their own performance improvement, results and achievement. The word Volitama means 'to empower' and this is what drives me in what I do.
Growing up in a sports-mad New Zealand family I started my working life as a teacher, but the travel bug soon got hold of me and it wasn't long until I hopped a plane to Japan where I fell head-first, (with no experience or training), into the role of ‘sales rep’, travelling the bottom half of Japan. That was very definitely a steep and reward learning curve.
When I was 29 I was promoted to a Regional Sales Management role in Singapore, managing sales across South Asia, South-East and North-East Asia. My sporting determination and my drive to learn and do well, meant I achieved exponential growth, consistently exceeding profitability targets year in and out. But, it was no easy ride, that was for sure. And how much more might I have achieved with more formalized training and development?
After eight years of living in Japan, Singapore, HK and Greece I decided it was time to immerse myself in learning again so I moved back to New Zealand and completed an MBA. This change took me down the path of learning and development, teaching business in a university to begin with before joining a Learning and Development company, specializing in bringing world-class international business speakers to New Zealand and working on training with leading banks, insurance, FMCG, manufacturing companies, government departments, small and medium businesses. It was in this role, that I became more and more aware of the common challenges that businesses face (no matter the size), in developing and enabling their sales people to excel.
In 2011 the travel bug got hold of me once more and I moved back to my first love of Asia to found and develop Volitama. I now spend my days driven by providing organizations with practical and manageable sales training solutions, that decrease their reliance on external training providers and ultimately give them a better return on their training investment.
